Targa
The 1973 Porsche 911 2.4 T/E Targa represents the final and most refined evolution of the early long-hood 911 generation.
Introduced at a time when Porsche was perfecting both performance and usability, this model blends open-air driving with the unmistakable character of the classic flat-six.
The “Targa” concept, originally developed as a response to anticipated safety regulations in the United States, became an icon in its own right.
Featuring a removable roof panel and a distinctive stainless steel roll bar, it offered a unique compromise between coupé rigidity and cabriolet freedom.
In its 2.4 T/E specification, the car is powered by a 2.4-litre flat-six equipped with Bosch mechanical fuel injection (MFI), delivering a smooth and responsive driving experience.
In T/E (US) configuration, the engine was slightly detuned to meet emissions standards, yet retained the mechanical precision and unmistakable sound that define early 911s.
By 1973, the 911 had reached a peak of maturity in its original form. Improved drivability, increased torque, and subtle refinements made this model one of the most sought-after of the pre-impact bumper era.
