The Renn-Sport

The porsche carrera rs 2.7 l for "renn-sport", carrera in memory of the carrera americana in which porsche excelled in the years 50 .

The combination of 210 bhp and a light body gave the rs 1973 a level of performance that the standard 911s had to wait 16 years to match.

It was nonetheless a car for both competition and road use.

The carrera rs was a great commercial success and instead of the 500 units planned for group 4, the factory ended up building more than one thousand five hundred (1590) in both racing and light versions and obtained group 3 homologation.
